Environmental impact assessment for the offshore windfarm “SKY 2000”

GEO Gesellschaft für Energie und Oekologie mbH planned the erection of a windfarm in the Mecklenburg Bay (Baltic Sea) with a performance of 100 MW (50 wind energy converters at 2 MW each), approximately 19 km east of the seaside resort of Dahme and at an approx. equal distance of the seaside resort of Kühlungsborn. OECOS GmbH had contributed substantially in the year 1999 to displace the planning area seaward by more than 10 km. Now the planning location is outside existing or planned protection areas.

The OECOS team coordinated all environmental examinations and summarized the individual results in an overall environmental impact assessment. The scoping conference, which started the formal planning procedures, took place in June 2001. The project was approved in 2003.
