Environmental Impact Assessment and Landscape Conservation Plan for the Extension of the Line U4

A major urban development project of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg is the development of the HafenCity district in an easterly direction. The Masterplan Eastern HafenCity added further details to the basic project and the general framework planning was updated. In sum, it is planned for the entire HafenCity district to offer more than two million square feet of gross floor space for 45,000 jobs and 5,800 homes for 12,000 people. After the construction of the U4 for the development of the western and central areas of HafenCity, this will be continued in the eastern part to the Chicago Square stop.

As part of the plan approval process for the extension of the U4 stop HafenCity to Chicago Square, OECOS GmbH was commissioned by HOCHBAHN AG to conduct an environmental impact assessment, a species conservation analysis and the creation of a landscape envelope plan.
