Pre-assessment for the singular case of a residual gas desulfurization facility

The residual gas treatment facility of a large scale oil treatment facility in the port of Hamburg was supposed to be renewed. According to the environmental impact assessment law, any significant alterations to such industrial facilities require a clarification of the environmental impact assessment-obligation on case specific pollution control approval procedures. OECOS Ltd. has carried out this task. Because of a considerably higher capacity of the new filter system, environmental and pollution related concerns were low. Conservation concerns regarding potential effects on breeding sites were targeted before construction by incubators as a measure of environmental compensation. Consequently, the extensive procedure of a formal environmental impact assessment was not necessary.
